A NOTE ABOUT INSURANCE: I don’t accept insurance as payment for several reasons, the most important being that this helps protect your medical privacy and the sacredness of our therapeutic relationship. Insurance companies require that you receive a mental health diagnosis in order to pay your claim. Before you use insurance you may want to consider the following:
- The diagnosis becomes a pre-existing condition for life.
- Once a claim leaves our office to be paid by the insurance company, an average of 14-17 other people hand the “confidential” information in order to complete and pay the claim.
- When your child is diagnosed for the purposed of filing an insurance claim, it is a lifelong diagnosis. Mental health diagnoses are not “curable.”
When you privately pay for your mental health care, no diagnosis is required and your confidentiality is assured.
However, if you do have medical insurance and want to use it for our sessions, it may be possible for you to obtain a refund for my services from your insurance company. Upon your request, I’ll provide documentation, including a diagnosis, for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Contact your provider directly for more information on how much money you can expect to be reimbursed.
